Decent place and a good place to get a burger and watch some sports. Even though they are slow sometimes there isn't much in Mount Airy like this to go with guys and get some food and watch sports. At the end of the day this is just a normal sports place and if you are expecting hire quality food and stuff then maybe you shouldn't go here.

The food is only decent and they've falsely advertised carrying UFC fights here only to not actually purchase it. It gets 4 stars because they have a fantastic outside bar that is open in the warmer months. Best place in mt airy to grab a beer with friends over the weekend. B

This review is a sober review of the restaurant and food. The bar looks like the best thing in Mt Airy. Average bar food. Fish tacos weren't good. The Chesapeake burger was average. I kept getting a whiff of rotting crab while seated in the restaurant and later found out that the staff has to smoke out back near the dumpsters. I would get drunk here, but not take my family here again.

I'm writing this review per request of a coworker who does not use Yelp but wanted to express her experience. Long story short, the food she got for herself and four kids was practically inedible minus the fries- her dogs wouldn't even eat the chicken that she brought home. She said service was fine and she did call to get refunded for some of the meal- which the gracious manager refunded the whole thing. She said she will be back eventually to give them another shot.

Dogfish on tap...Mac and cheese was actually pretty good. Lots of TVs for football watching. Worth going if you're in that neck of the woods!

Noisy. At least 400 TVs. Open space, high ceiling. Did I mention noisy? The kids love it because there are TV's at each booth. So they get to watch mindless cartoons instead of having to actually converse with their parents. Sorry, Bill, this is not a 5 with kickass anything. The food is just mediocre. It's not bad.... just nothing to write home about. This isn't a place you go for the cuisine. OTOH, if you just want a fun, non-pretentious bar experience with other adults, it fits the bill.

This place is terrible... Every so often I get dragged here by a friend or for a business meeting and every time I am disappointed. It is always dead and the bar tending service is terrible.... If you arent wearing a cowboy hat forget about getting a drink anytime soon. I wont even mention the food, because I would rather eat the spit sandwiches that mcdonald's serves. I could go on forever about how terrible this place is... I have a gift card to the place and I wont even go thats how bad it is.

Its busy on Saturday night, which doesn't say much. But they have Yuengling on draft and the patio is pretty classy.

I went there for lunch with a large group, and since they don't take reservations, they had no idea we were coming, but quickly put tables together to make one long table. Trouble was, though, they only assigned 1 waiter to about 16 of us and it seemed to be too much for him to handle. For starters, some of us arrived a few minutes before the others and were given menues. The ones that arrived about 5 or 10 minutes later, sat and waited for menues, finally asked for them, but the waiter took drink orders at the other end of the table, then delivered the drinks, all before giving us the menues (after a second and third request). We were treated as though we were a different party entirely. Drink orders were the same--a long wait--and no straws for our half of the table, so an even longer wait until he got them after requesting them. Took all the orders, then disappeared for awhile before returning with the straws. He had brought a large bowl of lemons for the other end of the table, and, when asked for lemons, he said "there's some down there somewhere" Unfortunalely, there were only 3 slices left, and when we asked for more--again, a very, very long wait. When he delivered the food, he brought mine with the wrong side, then told me to just take the plate and he would bring a plate of chips that was supposed to be my side. Then, after I had handled the food a little (a sandwich, so eaten with the hands), he came back and said he needed that plate, since he had found the person who ordered the same sandwich with the side he gave me. He wanted to take it, after it had been in front of me for 5 minutes, and give it to the other person--EWWW. I had to say several times that I had already eaten a little off of it, before he finally gave up and got her a fresh plate and my additional side that I had originally ordered. I was tempted to leave him just a small tip, but decided to give him the customary 15%, giving him the benefit of the doubt because he had been given such a large table and he also did do seperate checks for us. But, I was still put off by the fact that he never smiled, never apologized for his mistakes, treated our end of the table as though we were seperate, and wanted to give someone a plate that had already been served to someone else (and had been touched and partially eaten). I would give the place 1 star, but gave it 2 because the Reuben sandwich was so good--the corned beef was tender and sliced thin, but piled on, cheese properly melted, and served at the proper temperature. The side of onion strings were also very good and well worth the additional $.99 charge over chips. I might consider giving them another chance just based on the excellent cook! But, they really need to check the attitude of the wait staff. It was also, as someone else mentioned, very noisy, even though the restaurant was not full.

Coming from Germantown (where the Green Turtle there is not really worth reviewing), this Green Turtle is quite nice. If you are expecting some fancy restaurant and are a picky person, you may want to re-evaluate your expectations. I don't mean this in a bad way though. This place is a very good spot to come and have a drink and socialize and have a good time. I've come here a few times with my boyfriend and his friends during the Washington Capitals playoffs (before they lost in the last game :( ). We've gotten to know some of the wait staff and they are pretty friendly and are fun to be around. I think the one that has served us the most is Meghan? She is a hoot and always gets us what we need. The couple of meals I've had here are pretty delicious, especially the pork and fish tacos, very yummy!! They taste pretty fresh and leave me with a full belly. I will say sometimes in the outdoor patio area during the weekdays, sometimes the other wait staff is nowhere to be seen when we need a re-fill on drinks etc. Eventually we do get what we need though. Overall a pretty good watering hole for the local area, especially during sporting events and such. When I am around Mount Airy, this is usually where my friends and I go. Keep up the good food and drinks!

Not a big fan of this place. The staff is always friendly, but the food is just alright to me. It's a great place to watch sports games at the bar, but if you want great food, then I would recommend going somewhere else.

I have been here a handful of times in the past. The service is always good, but the food has gone from mediocre to worse. My five-year-old joined me for lunch today. Johanna was our awesome waitress. She was very personable & attentive. The kids chicken tender meal was standard & enjoyed by my son. I ordered a crab cake sandwich. The cake was eclipsed by the massive bun. When I went to "smoosh" it down, I noticed that the bottom was burned. I don't like to complain, so I just picked the burned bottom off. I then realized that the sandwich did not come with tartar or cocktail sauce. When Johanna came by and asked how everything was, I said it was ok. She asked if there was anything wrong, I mentioned the burned bottom, said it wasn't a big deal, & asked if I could have some tartar sauce. She brought a carryout packet of Kraft tartar sauce. Seriously? I expect that at a seafood shack on the beach, not a brick & mortar restaurant. The tartar sauce did not help. The crab cake tasted fishy & lacked any significant "lumps" that one comes to expect from any decent restaurant in Maryland. The manager came to the table a few minutes later. He asked if they could get me something else to eat. When I declined, he was nice enough to take the sandwich off our bill without being asked. So, service was 5 stars...but the food was definitely 1 star.

This is always a great atmosphere and just great people to be around. They always have the best games on and the food always comes out hot. By far one of the best places to eat in Mount Airy

Unfortunately I have to take my 4 star rating down to a 1. In fact, this situation pissed me off enough that I think I shouldn't have upgraded my previous 3 star review to a 4 just because they provide changing tables in the mens bathroom. My party of 5, which included my 1 year old daughter, visited this Green Turtle to watch some football. After the game our check was casually dropped off. This always irks me but I figured since the game was over maybe she thought we were ready to leave (still rude). When our waitress came back and my husband asked for another beer we were told that too much of our check was on beer so we weren't allowed to order anything else. 1) We have been visiting this establishment for a few years and this has never been an issue 2) There were 4 of us drinking beer during a 3 hour game. We were not there to get wasted...we were there to have a nice chill football Sunday! In fact, my 1 year-old was there too so this makes the situation even more insulting! 3) Sure, we were in the dining area rather than the bar. That shouldn't obligate us to order a full meal. Besides, even if we came for a few cold ones I'm not gonna go sit at the main bar with my 1 year-old. Plus, we did order 2 adult appetizers and 1 kids meal. I can't believe I'm even justifying myself right now. 4) If this is some strange rule then the waitress could have mentioned it before just tossing the check on the table. In fact she was so rude about it that she walked RIGHT past our table until we were ready with the check. Mind you my daughter needed something to drink. Oh and they were out of Hog Hammers. No more biz from us Green Turtle.

We were so excited to come here and watch the game(s). It wasn't overly crowded or busy, so the atmosphere was perfect for a leisurely meal and watching the game(s). My burger was AMAZING... the cowboy burger. I ate it alllllllllllllllllllllll. The food was overall good. Our waiter was nice, but he seemed REALLY distracted. We requested straws twice, and never received them (until our food came out with kitchen staff, and they gave us straws). Some of the fries were grossly undercooked and we sent them back nicely in hopes of receiving new fries, and we never got them. We requested he remove them from the bill, which he did. We handed the waiter 2 credit cards to split the bill... and he put it all on one card (mine -_-). Definitely recommend it. So, long story short, maybe it was just an off day for the waiter? I would come here again.

I came here shortly after my 21st birthday for a drink and they wouldn't serve me because I had a vertical license. I talked to the waiter about it and he said it was just their policy since they had a problem with fake IDs in the area. It wasn't fake. It's a dumb rule.

The staff is mostly good, but the restaurant seating area needs improvement. Half the televisions do not work; can't change the channels and the volume buttons don't work. And now I'm the happy hour specials are ambiguous and there is no information provided on the HH beer selections.

My family and friends used to go here often, 3-4x a month when the Turtle first opened. We primarily went for the convenience and the fact that there were so many large flat screen TVs to watch sports. We stopped after multiple issues with cold food and below average service. When there are so many places in Mt. Airy, why pay for mediocrity. Well, we came back to give it a try, it was 9:30pm on a week night and we figured we'd chance it. The food was delivered hot and the server was friendly. We will try it again during football season. They improved the layout/table footprint in the restaurant area, easier to see the big TV if you are located in the center of the room. The bar has significantly improved in appearance, nicer looking. Parking is sometimes a hassle.

Food mediocre to not good. Staff are consistently high school/college girls who lack the maturity to leave high school drama behind. Witnessed horrific targeting of young customers with rude comments and consistent unpleasant interactions. Called the manager on these occasions and received a nonchalant response with no commitment to speak to the name of employees provided to encourage better interactions/service. Enough for me to never return.

Stuffed burgers are cooked well done so I opted for something else. Not bad for chain restaurant/sports bar food. I had the black and bleu burger which was perfectly cooked(medium rare) tender but lacking some juiciness. The fries were the right amount of crispness and tasted fresh. The cowboy burger looked a bit juicier. The sauce on the wings were flavorful but not particularly outstanding. I must say that the service was friendly, helpful, and efficient.

Bland, processed chain food, good drink prices though and they always have some type of red bull shooter specials. Try the crab pretzel, it was great, lots of crab and good flavor. Service is hit or miss. Place can get crowded easily and bands play WAY too loud but as long as you've got a table or seat at the bar it's usually a good time...

Good service and food. Great atmosphere to watch TV especially sports. Also great to take the kids out as they can watch tv while the adults socialize. Only challenge sometimes is the parking.

Very noisy, always seems kind of dirty/sticky. The patio isn't anything to write home about. The lettuce on the salads is ALWAYS warm, like its just been sitting out for a few hours. The service is fine, but the quality of food and atmosphere here is very lacking.
